The Nishnawbe-Aski First Nation and the Province are taking a big step
toward improving health conditions on Northern reserves.
Officials and the Province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health have signed an
agreement, pledging to work together to bring better health and disease
prevention to remote communities.
Dr. Sheela Basrur says it’s an exciting step in the fight against high
diabetes, cancer, and suicide rates in the far north.
Deputy Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler says they want a solid commitment from
the province, rather than just health promotion pamphlets and displays.
