$5.3-million is being spent on Seniors programs and community services across Northern Ontario.
A bulk of the Local Health Integration Network funding is going to the Thunder Bay District.
Community Care Access Centre CEO Tuija Puiras says $1.3-million will be spent on local at home programs.
She says the goal is to ensure more home care and community services are available to free up space at Hospital’s across the North.
Officials were vague on the direct impact on local programs, however stated seniors who need 24-hour care at home will see improved care.
