A coalition of Ontario health agencies are calling for a complete ban on flavoured tobacco products.
New data shows 57,000, as young as 11-years-old, admit to using them despite legislation banning certain products.
Director of Ontario Campaign for Action on Tobacco Michael Perley says the number is concerning and it helps to make tobacco products more appealing to young children.
Perley says companies have found loopholes to continue selling the product.
He adds any partial ban isn’t going to work, adding that it’s clear there needs to be a 100% ban on flavoured tobacco products.
While the rate of use in Ontario is lower than other provinces, Perley says it still translates into health risks for far too many kids.
