Health Services Review and Appeals Board Hearing O

The first phase of hearings by the Ontario Health Services Review and Appeals Board has wrapped up in Kenora.
The hearing will help determine whether the Northwestern Health Unit can be the first Health body in Canada to ban smoking under existing legislation.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield is the Medical Officer of Health and bristles at suggestions that the Health Unit has overstepped its boudaries.
He believes the case should be a slam dunk!
The final person to testify was Dr. Karen Mazursky who approves the actions and says second-hand smoke is a proven health hazard.
The freedom of choice coalition, a group of 19 businesses from the region are fighting the compliance orders.
The hearing will resume April 29th in Toronto and will be available through Video-conferencing in Dryden.
