Health Unit Concerned With Opioid Misuse

The province and Health Canada are teaming up.
Together the two are trying to curb the misuse of opioid medications by changing the labels on controlled-released opioid pain medication.
Northwestern Health Unit Spokesperson Gillian Lunny says one of the most serious health harms that’s associated with misuse of opioid’s is overdose and overdose deaths.
Lunny says between 300 and 400 people die each year from prescription opioid overdoses.
