It took a full year, but the Northwestern Health Unit finally has a new Medical Officer of Health.
Dr. James Arthurs was hired by the Health Unit and will be the Acting MOH until the Minister of Health confirms the appointment.
Chair of the Health Unit Board, John Albanese says its a relief to finally fill the position.
Albanese says they wanted to hire Dr. Arthurs this past June, but because he is an American, he had to be certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario first.
He has been living in Kenora with his wife Dorothy since October.
