Health Unit Reacts To Provincial Obesity Report

A registered dietican with the Northwestern Health Unit has some healthy eating tips following yesterday’s report on childhood obesity.
Julie Slack says children tend to copy what their parents do.
Slack says parents should eat healthy at home and engage in physical activity.
Slack also reccomends keeping healthy foods, like cut-up veggies and fruits, in the fridge at eye level.
She adds it’s important to create a healthy habitat in schools and notes most area schools are promoting healthy food choices.
A provincial report called on the government to ban marketing of junk food to kids under 12-years-old, and to ban displays of high-calorie foods in retail stores.
