Health Unit Receives Funding for Court Battle

A review of the regional smoking ban could take place in August or early Fall.
The Province ordered it after the Health Services Appeal and Review Board ruled Medical Officer of Health Dr. Pete Sarsfield overstepped his bounds in issuing the ban.
Sarsfield says the cost of the probe is anyone’s guess but they have received $60,000 from the Province.
The Health Unit has received an additional $75,000 to help previous legal costs and educate other Health Units on anti-smoking initiatives.
