The heavy rainfall has prompted Abitibi in Fort Frances to take action regarding water levels.
Abitibi energy utilities coordinator Raimo Tyrvainen says one more spill gate has been opened today for a total of 7 gates now open.
Tyrvainen notes the move will increase the Rainy Lake outflow by about 50 cubic metres per second.
Weather stats show roughly 40 millimeters of rain or 1.6 inches has fallen in the Fort Frances area over the past 24 hours.
