Despite the rain over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Natural Resources is still urging caution when it comes to burning.
Fort Frances MNR fire spokesperson Harold Bovin says he doesn’t expect too many fires to pop up despite intense lightning activity because it is quite wet across the region.
However, Bovin advises residents to use caution since grass fuels are still very flammable right now and will be until green up occurs.
The MNR is still investigating the cause of a wildfire north of Fort Frances which is now out and another fire northeast of Rainy River which is now under control.
