HENRICA FRANCISCA (RICKY) BERRY (nee Gerritsjans)

Passed away at her home in Sioux Towers Apartments on October 2, 2008 with family and friends by her side.

Ricky is survived by son George (Sheela), daughter Frances (Charles), son Kevin (Glenda) and daughter Annette (Allan); Grandchildren Cynthia, Chris , Chuck (Gina), Tim, Jeff (Leslie), Jason (Heather), Jessica, Alex, Cory, Ronnie, Cheryl and Brennan; great grandchildren Josh, Marcus, Ryan, Jessica, Tevin, Andrew, and Nathaniel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by her husband Cyril (Charlie); siblings Marinus (Harriet), Anton (Rickie), Johanna (Herman) and Johan (Trus), Sister-in-law Connie and brother-in-law Albert (Mary).

Ricky was born in Delden, Netherlands on December 3, 1921 where she met her husband Cyril who was stationed in Holland during the Second World War. They moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 1946 where they raised their four children and developed many lasting friendships.

Ricky was a homemaker who always enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was active in the C.W.L and the Holy Family Church where she lent her capable voice to the church choir. She moved to Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 2006 where she gained an extended family with the residents at Sioux Towers Apartments.

Ricky’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sioux Towers: Randi Doggett, Louise Froude, Elena Gloria, Lindy Edwards, Ellen Winter, Den Tamayo, Rosemarie Chukra, Denice French, Susan Billedo, Janine Gardener, Charity Down, and Deborah Leyte, Dr. O’Driscoll and Dr. Minty, Comcare nursing staff Vickie, Cherry and Pat, Sioux Mountain Public School Staff and family, friends and neighbours. A special thank you to Claudia Jung and Kim Morgan.

A Memorial Service will be held in Ricky’s honour at the Holy Family Church in Hamilton, Ontario on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. A private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.

A celebration of her life will be held in Sioux Lookout at Sioux Towers on Saturday October 18, 2008 from 2-4 p.m.
