Highway Situation in Northwestern Ontario

Most highways in Northwestern Ontario that were closed because of heavy rain are now open again, including Highway 11 between Atikokan and Fort Frances.
However, Highway 17 west of Dryden at Beaver Creek has been reduced to one lane of traffic and crews are at the scene.
As well, Highway 605 north of Oxdrift is closed due to a washout.
The Ministry of Transportation say damaged shoulders, single-lane restrictions and road repair operations all demand extra care behind the wheel.
The MTO adds all off-highway travel on local roads and forest access roads is still very hazardous.
