A guilty plea has been entered in the first-ever hijacking of an Air Canada jet after taking off from Thunder Bay.
In 1971, an Air Canada jet was en route from Toronto to the Thunder Bay International Airport when it was taken over by an armed 24-year old man who demanded to go to Cuba.
Last September, Patrick Critton (now 54) was arrested at his house in the New York City area, where he worked as a school teacher.
When Critton appeared in court, he pleaded guilty to kidnapping and extortion.
A sentencing hearing will be held June 3rd.
