Hockey And Filling A Vacancy Highlight Council Agenda

A full agenda for the Committee of the Whole Meeting at Dryden City Hall Monday.

Mike Sveinson and Colleen Oliphant of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs will talk about possible upgrades to the Memorial Arena as the team prepares to host the Central Canadian Junior Hockey Championship next year.

They have developed a list of possible cosmetic and structural upgrades in order to meet the conditions of their successful bid.

The team stresses they want to work closely with the City to ensure the Arena is ready for the 2018 Dudley Hewitt Cup.

Officials have already participated in a walk-through of the Arena with Mayor Greg Wilson and Councillor Martin MacKinnon.

Council will also discuss options to replace out-going Councillor Darryl Skinner.

There are several possibilities including public appointment, going back to the 2014 election and picking the next runner-up, or holding a by-election.

Skinner replaced Ken Moss on November 2015 after Moss announced his resignation.

The last by-election held in Dryden was 2012.

The open meeting starts at 7 o’clock.

***Advisory: Dryden Police Board delegation has been moved to June 19th.
