Home Saved, No Injuries in Wabigoon House Fire

It could have been a total loss.
That’s according to Wabigoon Fire officials if it weren’t for the quick thinking of a Nugget Drive homeowner and firefighters.
The homeowner noticed smoke emanating from below his wood burning fireplace around 11:30 Saturday night.
He evacuated his family and called 9-1-1.
Fire crews arrived and thermal imaging showed multiple hot spots and material burning within the wall.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and damage to the home was contained to the fireplace.
Homeowners are reminded to have all wood burning fireplaces checked on a regular basis.
