Hospital CEO Credits Family Health Team For Health Care Turnaround

The Chief Executive Officer of the Dryden Regional Health Centre is reflecting back on the creation of the Family Health Team.

Wade Petranik was recently recognized by the Northwest Local Health Integration Network for establishing the coordinated health body back in the 2000’s.

Petranik admits they hit a bottom point back in the early 2000’s, with only six family doctors left in the community.

He says a public meeting involving hospital staff, physicians and the Dryden Cares Committee resulted in the establishment of the Family Health Team.

Petranik says it took about a year of planning to make their dream a reality.

He notes creating the Team required the restructuring of the entire primary care business plan and establishing new partnerships.

Petranik says it was created to make Dryden a recruitable community once again.
