Hotel/Motel Tax And Name Change For Dryden Up For Discussion

A full agenda for members of Dryden Council tonight. (Monday).

One of the issues to be discussed at the 7:00pm Committee of the Whole meeting is a recommendation to adopt a 4% Transient Accommodation Tax for those staying in local hotels and motels.

The move is expected to bring in about $397,000 in annual revenue for community upgrades and tourism initiatives.

Similar taxes are already in place in Thunder Bay, Kenora and Fort Frances.

Mayor Greg Wilson is also bringing forward a resolution to change the name from the City of Dryden back to the Town of Dryden.

An update on the communities strategic plan will also be provided.
