Housing Units In Hudson Being Sold

The Kenora District Services Board has received permission to sell 12 of its social housing units in Hudson.

The move follows multiple years of negotiations between the KDSB and the Ontario government.

Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says it will allow them to take under utilized units to other communities where the need is the greatest.

Wall says in larger communities, seniors looking for housing could spend two years on a waiting list.

The wait for single adults could be as long as ten years.

Wall adds they are working with the existing eight tenants to ensure they aren’t impacted by finding them other housing units or purchase options for those wishing to stay put.

He stresses they will ensure tenants wishing to stay won’t be displaced should the property be transferred or sold.

The KDSB is still working with the government on the sale of units in Dinorwic and Minaki.
