Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says if he’s elected Premier in
October, he will make sure the province foots the bill for more services.
Hampton says transit fares would be frozen for two years and the
province would pay half of cities’ transit operating costs.
The NDP Leader says the province has failed to honour its cost-sharing
and funding agreements with Municipalities.
The announcement follows a pledge he made Monday to have
the province foot the bill for court security costs.
Hampton says uploading court costs will save Municipalities about $250 million, which could be used to hire up to 3,000 police officers.
