The New Democrats are optimistic about their chances of forming a government in the next federal election.
Howard Hampton gained the NDP nomination in the Kenora Riding over the weekend.
Hampton says the surprising win by the NDP in the recent Alberta provincial election shows anything can happen in politics.
He notes people are ready for change and are ready for a different government.
Hampton notes the public is rallying around Tom Mulcair who is promising to work together with everyone to rebuild Medicare.
He adds he’s not concerned about criticism that he doesn’t actually live in the riding, noting riding boundaries always shift around and everyone knows he’s from northwestern Ontario.
