Howie on energy rebate

Only three or four pulp and paper mills in northwestern Ontario will benefit from an energy rebate program announced by the provincial government this week.

That’s the prediction of NDP leader Howard Hampton.

Hampton suggests only a couple of mills in Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay will be able to take advantage of what amounts to a one cent per kilowatt/hour rebate.

Hampton says the pulp and paper mills in Dryden and Fort Frances won’t be able to take full advantage of the program.
