Human Rights Experience For Two Dryden Teens

Two girls in Dryden got to experience an “Adventure in Human Rights” thanks to the local Rotary Club.

Sarah Becker and Abbey Taylor went on the sponsored trip to Winnipeg, which included a visit to the Human Rights Museum.

Becker and Taylor both called it an eye-opening experience, noting they got to learn more about human rights with a number of other individuals with ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Becker says she learned more about rights being denied and the importance of spiritual beliefs among Indigenous people and incorporating it into everyday life.

Taylor says she had no idea that it was so difficult to settle into this land, noting she took everything for granted living with a high Indigenous population in Dryden.

She says she just assumed it would be an easy transition

Taylor notes she recommends that other youth take advantage of the program.

The two teens addressed Dryden Rotary at the Best Western on Wednesday.
