The Conservatives at Queen’s Park are taking the Wynne government to task once again over its energy policies.
PC Interim leader Vic Fedeli says a recent report by the Auditor General raises a number of red flags about the Independent Electricity Systems Operator.
Bonnie Lysyk brought up several concerns including incorrect accounting, deceptive and obstructive behaviour by the IESO board of directors and management, as well as poor financial concerns.
Fedeli says the government needs to take the auditor’s statements seriously.
Fedeli adds there is a culture of untrustworthiness and a lack of integrity at the organization.
He adds “it’s so bad the Auditor General warned that if improper accounting wasn’t fixed she may issue an adverse opinion on Ontario’s books, noting that would be a first in Canadian history.”
According to the auditor, due to the Fair Hydro Plan, the government has understated its deficit by $1.3-billion, suggesting that number will only continue to grow.
