Salaries for Hydro One executives are once again in the spotlight in the Ontario Legislature.
Progressive Conservative critic Vic Fedeli says he wants to know why the President/CEO of the utility is being paid $6.2-million a year.
Fedeli notes executive salaries are more than 10-times higher at Hydro One than any other provincially operated electrical company, with Manitoba Hydro’s CEO earning $466,000.
Energy Minister Glen Thibeault says because Hydro One is now a publically traded company, the government doesn’t have a lot of control over executive compensation, but notes their salaries are tied to meeting aggressive performance targets.
Thibeault notes that in the past couple of years Hydro One has found more than $114-million in savings.
He claims the savings have led to more affordable bills for customers.
