It was a true battle between the SIJHL’s top two teams and when the dust settled, the Fort William North Stars held on to beat the Dryden Ice Dogs 5-4 Friday night at the ‘Dog Pound’.
Dryden spotted the Stars a 5-2 third period lead, but came back to make it a 1 goal game.
A furious attack fell just short in the end giving the Stars the win and a 3 game lead in the Best-of-7 Bill Salonen Cup.
Jordan Chong, Tyler Tesh, Liam Walker and Dale Logal scored for Dryden,
Shawn Szachury was sensational making 37 saves for the Dogs.
Game 4 is set for Saturday night at the Dog Pound.
Puck-drop is 7:30.
