Ice Dogs Draw First Blood In SIJHL Final

It’s a game Josh Oberg will remember for the rest of his life.

The Dryden native scored his first two career SIJHL Playoff goals to lead the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 6-2 win over the top ranked Fort Frances Lakers Thursday at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Tanner Watt also potted two, while Woody Galbraith and Ben Smaha added singles.

The Ice Dogs played their best game of the year shutting down the high flying Lakers attack.

Dryden GM outshot Fort Frances 32-26 and went 3-5 on the powerplay.

Troy Pierce made 24 saves for his second consecutive playoff win.

The Ice Dogs now lead the Best-of-7 Bill Salonen Cup 1-0 with game 2 set for Sunday night in Fort Frances.
