It will be a game the English River Miners will never forget and one that will likely keep the Dryden GM Ice Dogs up overnight.
The Miners scored six power-play goals, including five from Jared Janke in a 7-1 win Friday night, handing Dryden GM its worst loss in two years.
Janke also added an assist.
Stratton Pickett also scored on the man advance, while Dryden’s Jacen Bracko scored a power-play marker late in the third to ruin Michael Lenko’s shutout.
Red Lake’s own Jordan Baranesky was the only one to score a 5-5 goal.
The Miners entered the game with only 6 power-play goals in the entire season.
Dryden GM outshot English River 42-28.
The Ice Dogs lost ground on first place Thief River Falls as the Norskies skated to a 5-2 win over Fort Frances.
Thunder Bay remains two up on the Miners following a 6-2 win over the visiting Iron Rangers.
