The Fort Frances Lakers gave everything the Dryden GM Ice Dogs could handle to end the Showcase event Wednesday night.
Matthew Pitchense and Jacen Bracko scored in the shootout and Landon Pavlisin stopped the two shooters he faced as the Ice Dogs tripped up the host Lakers 4-3.
Fort Frances forward Ian Tookenay scored his second of the game with 46 seconds remaining to send the game to extra time.
Scoring for Dryden GM were Jacen Bracko, Evan Walls and Malcolm Huemmert, who trailed Fort Frances 2-0 after the first period.
The Ice Dogs outshot the Lakers 49-32.
With the victory, Dryden GM remains three points behind the first place Thief River Falls Norskies.
