For a second straight game the English River Miners struggled to generate any offence in a 5-2 loss to Thunder Bay at the Showcase event in Fort Frances.
Once again all of the Miners goals came on the powerplay, with Brody Jennings and Mark Ziobro finding the back of the net.
English River ended up out shooting the North Stars 35-32, with Westin Caldwell suffering the loss.
In the second game of the day Wednesday, the Thief River Falls Norskies survived a scare as they needed a late goal to dispose of Minnesota 3-2.
