It was a physical and emotional affair and when the dust settled, the Dryden Ice Dogs escaped with a 4-3 shootout victory on home ice Wednesday night against the Sioux Lookout Flyers.
Ryan Lobreau was the only one to score in the shootout.
Alex Galbraith, Jesse Linner and Jon Mitchell scored in regulation.
Kalen Ewald helped the Flyers earn a single point, with the game tying goal 24-seconds before the final buzzer.
Chase Dobranski and AJ Merritt also found the back of the net.
Jesse Wilkins made 37-saves in a losing cause, while Ian Perrier made 27 for the victory.
In other SIJHL action, the Wisconsin Wilderness exploded for 5-goals in the third period to down Duluth 8-1.
