Ice Dogs Win In A Shootout; Miners Lose On Home Ice

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs finally got the monkey off their backs.

The Ice Dogs avoided a fourth straight loss at home with a thrilling 4-3 shootout win Saturday night against Thunder Bay.

Blake Berg scored the only goal in the shootout, while Tate Sproxton slammed the door shut.

Scoring in regulation were Zach Kercz, Dylan Cusmano and Ryan Hron.

Dryden GM outshot Thunder Bay 44-28.

Moments before the game, the club found out they would be without Ben Smaha for 3-games and Eric Masters for 2-games as they were suspended by the SIJHL for separate incidents in Friday`s game against English River.

In Ear Falls, the Fort Frances Lakers spotted the English River Miners an early 2-0 lead before storming back for a 5-3 win.

Eric Champagne and Richard Dartnall scored even strength, while Joel Warkentin connected on the power-play.

Greg Harney made 34-saves in a losing cause.
