It was the Cory Smith show as the Dryden Ice Dogs took a 1-0 lead in their best of seven semi final series after a 5-2 win over the Schrieber Diesels at home Tuesday night. Nryant Nichols started the scoring for the Dogs and then Cory Smith potted the natural het trick plus 1 for a 4 goal night. Shawn Szachury stopped 17 shots for the win in net. The Ice Dogs will try to keep home ice advantage as they host the Diedels for game 2 Wednesday night before heading for Schrieber on the weekend. The puck drops at 7:30 at the Dryden Memorial Arena Wednesday night.
