Ignace Debating Next Step

Ignace Council is accepting the resignation of Mayor Lee Kennard with regret.
Town Administrator Wayne Hanchard says the vacancy will be declared at the February 6th Council meeting and the Municipality has 60-days to fill the spot.
Hanchard says Council can decide to appoint one its Councilors as Mayor or hold a by-election for the position.
Kim Baigrie, Larry Fraser, Al Graver and Chicki Pesola currently sit on Ignace Council.
The departure of Kennard also leaves an opening with the Kenora District Services Board.
Kennard sat on the Board and the Town of Ignace will now have to decide on a replacement.
