Ignace Mayor Cites Personal Reasons

Lionel Cloutier says his job as Mayor has become too taxing and that’s why he decided not to seek re-election.
Cloutier says he must pay more attention to his own business and his own quality of life.
In his first term as Mayor, Cloutier stated that he was proud to see several projects move forward during his tenure, including substantial road work and streamlining operations to make day-to-day business more effective.
Cloutier is also optimistic about Mining in the area as well as a plan to explore a repository site for spent nuclear fuel.
He notes if things calm down he still hopes to be active on various committee’s and economic development initiatives.
