It Could Be A Volatile Week at Queen’s Park

First Nations Chiefs from Northern Ontario are warning they’ll use “any means necessary” to protest if the Government passes the Far North Act.
Third and Final reading is scheduled for Thursday.
The land use planning bill would protect 225,000 square kilometres of Boreal forest from development.
Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation Stan Beardy says there will be conflict in the North if the bill is forced through this week as planned.
Beardy says the bill robs aboriginals of their treaty rights and doesn’t give them a say in how their lands will be developed.
First Nations’ chiefs accuse Premier Dalton McGuinty of misleading them and of failing to keep his promise not to pass the Far North Act without their approval.
Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association President Anne Krassilowsky also issued a statement Tuesday stating her organization is against Bill 191.
Premier Dalton McGuinty is defending his decision to move ahead with Northern land development Legislation.
He says there’s been “extensive consultation” over the Act.
