Immigrant Population Decline #1

Northwestern Ontario has experienced a decline in its

immigrant population over the last five years.

Statistics Canada released new information from the 2006

Census which deals with people who came from other

countries to live here.

Analyst Sylvie Bourbonais says most new immigrants

living in the region are from Russia and Poland.

Ontario normally attracts immigrants from China.

The number of immigrants who lived in Kenora decreased

to 745 from 930 between 2001 and 2006.
