Important Step Reached To Build All-Nations Hospital

The provincial government is giving the green light to begin planning for a new All-Nations hospital in the City of Kenora.

The Lake of the Woods District Hospital is receiving $2.5-million to begin the planning process for a new facility.

In a release from the province, it says the funding will help identify key priorities and programs to improve health care in the Kenora area and will help develop a capital plan.

Joe Barnes is the Executive Director of the Kenora Chiefs Advisory and says this is truly a project that requires the partnership of everyone, especially the hospital, the community and First Nations.

Kenora MP Bob Nault is calling the funding a good first step.
