Indian Affairs Looks at Wabigoon Water

The Federal Government says its committed to improving the quality of
life on Northern Ontario First Nations after a report that listed the
Wabigoon Lake water system as one of the worst in Canada.
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada Spokesperson Tony Prudori says the
plant has had numerous changes in operators which has led to up and down
water quality.
Prudori says they are considering an outside firm to provide oversight
for the system until local operators have been certified.
He adds they are also conducting an engineering assessment of the plant which will eventually lead to a feasibility study to identify flaws in the system.
The Water Treatment Plant was built in 1995 and a boil water advisory
has been in place since September 2005.
