Canadian Indigenous Minister Carolyn Bennett says it is time to dismantle the national child welfare system.
Bennett says dollars need to go to children, families and communities, not lawyers, agencies and non-Indigenous foster parents.
She stresses First Nations need to have the jurisdiction in child and family services no matter where they live.
Bennett says they also need to work to prevent children and families from entering the system in the first place.
