Thunder Bay Police say a 56-year-old Southern Ontario man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of his twin infant granddaughters.
Police say the man was heading back to Southern Ontario after being awarded custody of the girls and their 20-month-old brother in Slave Lake, Alberta last week.
Police were called Sunday after the lifeless bodies of the girls were found in a Thunder Bay motel room.
Their brother was unharmed.
Autopsies have been performed on the twins but police are not releasing the cause of death.
Police say their grandfather is facing two counts of criminal negligence causing death.
