The flu bug has officially hit our area.
The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting the first case of Influenza A, stressing having one case identified by the laboratory indicates there are other, non-lab test cases in the region as well.
Officials are urging the public to get a flu shot, noting its free of charge.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young-Hoon suggests that if you do get the virus, you should stay home from work or school and avoid public places until you are feeling better.
She is also asking the public to avoid hospitals or long-term care homes if you have a fever or not feeling well.
