Information Session on Nuclear Site on Ice for Now

A small group of Sioux Lookout residents are telling Council “not in our backyard.”
That’s the reaction Council is taking from a public meeting to decide if the community wants to obtain more information on hosting an underground nuclear repository.
Mayor Dennis Leney says it doesn’t hurt to follow the move of Ignace and Ear Falls to explore the idea.
Leney believes the group represented a small minority and suggests the Municipality may re-visit the idea of having the Nuclear Waste Management Organization come up and provide more information.
The NWMO conducts informational visits at no cost to the Municipality.
