Initiative Launched To Reduce Railway Deaths

Police will be out and about in the area as part of CN Rail Safety Week.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the number of crashes at railway crossings as well as trespassing incidents.
CN Police Constable Cynthia Stotz says tips are always accepted on those who illegally enter CN property or train tracks.
Stotz encourages the public to not wear headphones or use their phone near train tracks.
She adds that people seem to forget that the train is wider then the tracks.
A safety blitz is being held today at the Sioux Lookout CN Yard from 12:00-3:00.
Traffic at the yard is always high and CN Police and Provincial Police will be out charging people for trespassing.
Stotz says they have seen 50-fatalities and 21-serious injuries in the past year.
