Several inmates at the Kenora Jail have complained of poor conditions at the facility since the strike by civil servants began yesterday.
Prisoners are complaining meals are late, cells are dirty and they are being locked down for as long as 18 hours a day.
One inmate says many of the rights that are supposed to be guaranteed are being denied.
Meantime, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Correctional Services says the priority during the strike is maintaining the security and safety of the facility.
