An investigation will be carried out into the financial arrangements of a Kenora law firm which handled a number of Indian Residential School claims.
According to the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, the court monitor for the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement will look into loans and administration fees paid by claimants to Doug Keshen.
The court monitor was to appear before the Supreme Court today requesting the practice files of the law firm of Keshen and Major.
A consent order was given and now NAN says the investigation can be carried out without any delay.
Nan Deputy Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler says they are looking forward to an engagement process involving First Nation communities and individual claimants.
