A disappointing loss for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs against the Minnesota Iron Rangers.
Up 4-1 in the third period and in control of the game, the Ice Dogs watched the lowest scoring team in the SIJHL battle back and tie the game with two power-play goals and a tying goal with 2.7-seconds left in regulation to force extra time.
Nothing was settled in overtime, and Zack Taylor was the only one to score in a shootout as he beat Taylor Unruh five hole to propell the Iron Rangers to a 5-4 victory Wednesday night in Hoyt Lakes.
Derek McPhail led the Dryden GM attack with a pair of goals and an assist, while Braeden Allkins and Kyle Pouncy added singles.
The Ice Dogs were 3/4 on the power-play and outshot Minnesota 37-30.
Dryden GM did pick up a point and is now four behind Fort Frances for top spot in the league.
The Ice Dogs face the Lakers in Fort Frances Thursday night at 7:30.
