The Dryden Fire Service wants to remind the public that dirty chimneys can cause fires.
Information Officer Reagan Breeze Breeze says it’s important to check walls for heat, install a rain cap and watch for smoke coming into the room, which is a common indicator that the chimney is blocked.
He adds it’s a good idea to inspect and clean your chimney on a regular basis.
If in doubt, contact your local fire department or a Wood Energy Technical Training (WETT) certified chimney sweep.
