New Prospect School is asking Dryden residents to help them extend a helping hand in assisting Brad West and his family in the fight against a rare cancer.
Mary Trist was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Monday to talk about one of the fundraising events being held this week, “The Westy-Jet Paper Airplane Challenge” starting at 12:40 Tuesday afternoon.
The event is open to the public and they are encouraged to enter a submission.
Trist says they are looking for teams of two who will pay $5 to enter the competition.
The cost to watch is only 50-cents.
She notes they have also lined up two celebrity judges.
Other “Westy Week” highlights include a PJ Day for staff and students, a Hoodie, Hat and Hot Dog Day, face painting and a Sock Hop
A fundraising campaign is also being launched this week in support of Brad West.
On every Wednesday in December, a donation jar will be set up at the Dryden Memorial Arena during Minor Hockey ice times.
West works at the Arena and organizers are hoping folks can stop by to help support the initiative.
