The lawyer for the 6 KI First Nation band members serving jail terms for civil contempt, says he expects they will be out of jail within the next week.
Chris Reid has filed a motion to be heard at the Ontario Court of Appeal today, asking for the immediate release of the group pending the hearing of their appeal, which is slated for next Wednesday.
Reid says he is optimistic the group will be released.
However he says support from the McGuinty government is a must.
