It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Victor (Vic) Johnson on August 30, 2013. He was 66 years old.
Vic is survived by his wife Charron of 42 years, his daughter Cheryl (Brett) McCallum and Axel (Nancy) Johnson, and four grandchildren, Cassidy and Axel Johnson, Maeve and Lachlan McCallum. He will be dearly missed by brothers Martin (Clara), Mel (Heather) and Rod (Gerianne) as well as brothers-in-law Gord (Diane), Jamie (Kelly), and Dan (Cindy) Alcock, and many special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Axel and Jean Johnson, and parents-in-law, Gordon and Eleanor Alcock.
Vic worked for the Dryden Regional Airport, retiring after 37 years. He made many lasting friendships with his coworkers.
Vic valued time spent with family, supporting the kids in their various activities, helping brothers with building and renovation projects, and spending time with the grandchildren.
Vic loved the outdoors. He enjoyed time spent at the cabin on Rugby Lake, as well as activities such as fishing, hunting and snow machining. In the 1960s he played in a band called the Dryden Hillbillies. He spent many hours at the bowling centre. He enjoyed woodworking, his most prized project being a cradle for his grandson Lachlan. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Oxdrift Branch #41 for 40 years, holding many positions in the branch as well as zone, district and provincial offices.
Vic liked to travel. He loved to get in the vehicle and explore Canada. HE traveled to both coasts, putting his feet into the ocean. He even found the adventure in taking a wrong turn or taking a shortcut down a less traveled road.
There will be no Visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday September 6th, 2013 at 11:00 am at the
